Juan Manuel Márquez weighed in four pounds lighter than the American Floyd Mayweather Jr as the Mexican was greeted by deafening cheers from passionate fans on the eve of tonight's non-title welterweight fight in Las Vegas.

The five-times world champion Márquez, who has 37 knockouts to his name in 50 victories against four defeats and one draw, tipped the scales at 10st 2lb in front of a boisterous crowd of around 1,500 at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Mayweather, unbeaten with 25 knockouts in 39 victories and a heavy favourite to win at his natural weight, registered 10st 6lb after being booed by the largely Hispanic supporters.

The atmosphere in the MGM Grand's Garden Arena was electric as the fighters made their way on to a raised stage for the televised weigh-in. Mayweather, who returns to the ring after a 21-month absence, strutted and postured after arriving for his introduction wearing a hooded tracksuit.
